Isle of Palms Winter Redfishing

  Despite the major cold front that has descended upon the East Coast of the United States, the fishing has been very productive! I am seeing Large Schools of Redfish throughout the Sounds, Bays, and Waterways! These fish have been eating a variety of fly’s, artificial baits, and live baits. My go to live bait this time of year is a fresh quartered Blue Crab. Tony and his son Ted fished with me this past week and had a blast. This time of year all it takes, is getting on the right school of Happy Hungry Fish, and that we did! We also boated over 40 good sized Sheepshead. Those fish were loving a live fiddler crab being dangled in front of their face. Overall, the Winter is my favorite time to fish. Just imagine seeing the fish from a distance and stalking the school.This time of year it allows you spot the fish, stalk the fish, cast to the fish, hook the fish, fight the fish, and enjoy every second of it! Upcoming Fishing Shows and Expos

 It’s that time of year again for the annual Charleston Boat Show. The show is January 29-31 and the Charleston Convention Center. This show host a variety of seminars, manufacturers, and specialty boating and fishing products.   Haddrell’s Point tackle is also hosting the First Annual Shallow Water Fishing Expo this year. The show dates are February 27-28 at the Omar Shrine Temple. The majority of the proceeds benefit the Coastal Conservation Association. Everyone in the fishing industry should be there! There will also be several Celebrity appearances and seminars, including Mark Nichols of DOA, Bob Clouser who introduced the Clouser Minnow Fly, Rick Murphy of Sportsman Adventures TV, and Fly Fishing Prostaffer Linda Heller.
